French lawyer Denis Goulette appointed new FSE Délégué Général to represent the interests of 34 screenwriters’ organisations across Europe.

David Kavanagh, who has served as Executive Officer of the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe since 2010, after being engaged for several years as member of the Executive Committee, retired at the end of July.

Having launched a recruitment process, the Executive Committee of the FSE are happy to announce the appointment of French lawyer Denis Goulette as FSE Délégué Général.

Denis Goulette now represents the European and International interests of the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe, whose 29 FSE member organisations are present in 26 European countries, gathering together some 10,000 screenwriters. He will speak in the name of FSE in European and International institutions and in all relationships with other authors’ and creators’ organisations.

Holding a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property, Denis Goulette has been working for twenty years in the media and cultural sectors. His legal career initially developed within two major French audiovisual groups. His strategic vision and leadership have strengthened the legal frameworks of these entities with a constant focus on better respecting authors’ rights.

As the head of La Guilde française des Scénaristes for four years, Denis Goulette deepened his understanding of the various issues related to authors’ rights and the vulnerabilities of creators facing the industry. He also served as French representative to FSE during the key negotiation phase of the 2019 Copyright Directive.
